Bryan Gardam

 

Lieutenant Bryan Gardam first joined the Australian Army in 1994 as a Storeman. His first posting was to the 5th Aviation Regiment in Townsville. He transferred to the Royal Australian Navy in 1998, and trained as a Combat Systems Operator Following this training Seaman Gardam Served in Her Majesties Australia Ship (HMAS) ADELAIDE and participated in the deployment to East Timor in 1999 and Exercise RIMPAC in 2000.

 

In 2001 Able Seaman Gardam undertook Submarine training as an Acoustic Warfare Analyst culminating in HMAS SHEEAN with the award of his Dolphins, then serving in HMAS RANKIN as commissioning crew.

 

In 2003 Able Seaman Gardam applied and was selected for appointment as a Seaman Officer, being appointed as a Midshipman in July 2003 and attended the Royal Australian Naval College in Jervis Bay. In 2004 Midshipman Gardam commenced Junior Warfare Application Course at HMAS WATSON. During the Course he served in HMA Ships WOLLONGONG, SUCCESS TARAKAN, CANBERRA, and ADELAIDE. He was promoted to Sub Lieutenant in 2006 and was awarded his Bridge Warfare Certificate in Dec 2005.

 

In 2006 Sub Lieutenant Gardam completed the Intermediate Navigation course and was posted to HS BLUE Crew in Cairns and Served in HMAS MELVILLE AND HMAS LEEUWIN as the Navigating Officer. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2007

 

Lieutenant Gardam completed the Long Navigation course in  2008 and was posted to HMAS PERTH as the Navigating Officer.

 

Throughout his career Lieutenant Gardam has been awarded The Australian Active Service Medal (East Timor clasp), The International Forces East Timor medal, and the Australian Defence Medal.

 

Lieutenant Gardam is partnered to Michael and lives in Rockingham, Western Australia.
