Angus appointed into the Australian Army in January 2018 to study a Bachelor of Civil Engineering at the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA). Upon graduating from the ADFA military curriculum in 2020 he took academic leave to complete the Army Officer Commissioning Course at the Royal Military College – Duntroon. He commissioned into the Royal Australian Engineers in December 2021 and returned to ADFA, where he is currently completing his engineering degree with honours.
Angus became open about his sexuality in the workplace in 2018, shortly after the completion of ADFA initial employment training. He felt that it helped his workmates to better understand him as a person as well as allow him to feel comfortable and participate fully at work.
Angus became a member of DEFGLIS in 2019 after attending Mardi Gras with the ADFA contingent. He has been an active member of the DEFGLIS community attending Mardi Gras, Military Pride Balls, and community get togethers with the Canberra contingent. He nominated and was elected to the DEFGLIS board for 2022-2023, where he is currently fulfilling the role of Secretary.
In his free time, Angus can be found rowing on lake Burley Griffin, volunteering with St John Ambulance or hiking through the Victorian high country.
