The Gay and Lesbian Welfare Association or GLWA began in 1984 as the Homosexual Community Welfare Service (HCWS) providing telephone counselling and information. Peer telephone counselling services has always remained the core focus of our activities.

Open Doors

Open Doors is a service for supporting young people aged between 12 -18 years who are exploring, questioning or identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and/or transgender (LGBT). We provide individual intervention through counselling and support and other services for young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, or are experiencing difficulties at home, feeling isolated and confused.

PFLAG Brisbane – Parents & Friends of Lesbians and Gays

PFLAG Brisbane is a non government funded group which operates under the auspices of the Queensland Association of Healthy Communities (QAHC). We provide general community education to promote understanding of the gay community. PFLAG advocates for gay rights and regularly lobbies the government regarding equality for the LGBT community.

Q News

QNews is Queensland 's only fortnightly gay and lesbian magazine. QNews is fully produced, written, edited, printed and owned by Queenslanders. QNews has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars since it began and continues to work with many community groups to tackle serious issues such as youth suicide, HIV prevention, domestic violence, discrimination and is proactive to improve services to our community.
