LGBTI family views needed – 2015 ADF Families Survey

2015 11 24 ADFFamilySurvey

LGBTI families are key as Defence reaches out include all type of diverse families that support military personnel to respond to this year's family survey.

Defence recognises the significant contribution of ADF families in supporting military members in their duties and the 2015 ADF Families Survey is an opportunity for you to tell Defence about your experiences. Defence wants to know what you think and what support you need to help manage the challenges of military life.

This year’s survey will focus on relocations and absence from home, and will be an important source of information about the demands of service on families and members. It will assist Defence to understand how to improve programs, policies and communications to better meet the needs of ADF members and their families.

The objectives of this survey include the collection of information on the experiences, attitudes, and circumstances of the families of ADF members, in order to inform Defence of:

  • the impact of ADF conditions of service on family member’s satisfaction with service life and overall quality of life;
  • how families believe that this impacts on the ADF member’s satisfaction and commitment to service life; and
  • whether the previously identified gaps in provision of and access to family support service delivery have improved, as well as obtaining advice to address opportunities that will enable Defence to continue to reduce any such gaps.

The survey is sponsored by the Chief of the Defence Force and coordinated by the Defence Community Organisation in partnership with Defence Families of Australia.
